...When I was 11 years old (1967) my parents took
me for an excursion to the castle "Olbrueck"*. For
renovation,
there
was a little tipcart. I rode a few times on it`s short
track... . ...In 1991 I needed some timber for our house in Remagen-Unkelbach. At Meckenheim (Rhineland) there was a sawmill that still used tipcarts. They only sold me the timber but not any railway-supplies. But fortunately next door there was a brick-factory they just closed. There I could buy enough material for a little railway arround the house. As a beginner I did`nt know how to bend rails. After very many trials I did it with an 8-ton car-jack successfully. The ground arround our house is very small, so I put the tracks mostly into the ways . So the UNKELBACHER TAL BAHN helps us to transport coal and timber, not to forget heavy shoppings and luggage. We also take rides "just for fun". . In Internet Thomas W. H. Koppermann from Hamburg made a first presentation in 1999 on his "Feldbahn-Fan.de"* . And that`s my neighbours`comment: " Sometimes it sounds as an earthquake, sometimes you can feel the vibrations." A lady aked for the railway`s mine-entrance. . I hope you enjoy the pages of the UNKELBACHER TAL BAHN. |
